Eliott ist seit vielen Jahren Kettenraucher und daher an Lungenkrebs erkrankt, schafft es jedoch nicht, dies seiner Tochter zu erzählen. Vor fast 30 Jahren hat er durch einen Fehler die Liebe seines Lebens Ilena verloren.
Ilena war eine lebensmutige Frau. Sie stammte gebürtig aus Brasilien, arbeitet jedoch als Tierärztin mit den Orcas in Orlando zusammen. Ilena wollte nichts mehr als ihr Leben mit Eliott teilen, jedoch strebt dieser sich wiederholt gegen Familie und Ehe.
Ein weiterer Charakter ist Eliotts Freund Matt. Der Franzose hofft in Kalifornien Wein anbauen zu können. Matt nimmt das Leben einfach und versucht Eliott davon zu überzeugen es auch zu tun.
Setting
Das Buch springt zwischen Orlando und San Francisco. Eliott lebt in San Francisco und Ilena in Orlando. Bei Eliott wird vor allem wert gelegt auf die Beschreibung seines Lebensstils und der Freiheit die Kalifornien bietet. Es werden Küstenstraßen und Strände beschrieben.
Schreibstil
Wieder einmal ein typisches Buch nach Musso. Wir haben eine Liebesgeschichte die scheinbar im Fokus steht. Nebenher gibt es eine Verbindung nach Frankreich durch Matt und seine Herkunft und wir haben einen Teil Fantasy. Desweiteren spinnt sich hier eine Kriminalfall zusammen und der Protagonist ist sich seiner Sache nicht wirklich sicher.

Das Cover zeigt eine junge Frau, welche über ein Feld von der Golden Gate Bridge weg rennt. Sie schaut im rennen über die Schulter auf die Brücke
Fazit
Das Buch hat mich von seiner Geschichte sehr an 'Eine himmlische Begegnung' erinnert. Es geht darum in der Zeit herum zu reisen um letztendlich jemanden zu retten. Auch ist es sehr ähnlich zu 'vielleicht morgen'. Die Geschichte an sich war sehr gut, jedoch ein bisschen sehr langatmig. Man brauchte einige Zeit bis Eliott endlich auf Ilena traf und als er dann versuchte die Vergangenheit zu ändern , schlug ihm das Schicksal dennoch einen Haken. Ich fand das an sich eine sehr gut Idee, jedoch war sie schleppend umgesetzt und an den Haaren herbei gezogen.
Was jedoch sehr gut zueinander passt ist das Cover zur Geschichte. Die Frau ( Ilena?) die sich von dem Wahrzeichen San Franciscos abwendet und weg rennt, das könnte stellvertretend für Eliott stehen. Wobei die Golden Gate Bridge im späteren Teil des Buches zu ihrem Verhängnis wird.

Another character is Eliott friend Matt. The Frenchman hopes in California to grow wine. Matt takes life easy and tried Eliott persuade to do the same.

The book jumps between Orlando and San Francisco. Eliott lives in San Francisco and Ilena in Orlando. In Eliott is placed value especially to the description of his lifestyle and the freedom which provides California. It describes coast streets and beaches.
writing style
Once again a typical book by Musso. We have a love story that seems to be in focus. Incidentally there is a connection to France by Matt and his origin and we have some fantasy. Furthermore, here a criminal case weaves together and the protagonist himself is his cause not really sure.

The cover shows a young woman who runs away across a field from the Golden Gate Bridge. She looks at the race over his shoulder at the bridge
Conclusion
The book reminds me of his history at 'A heavenly encounter'. The point is to travel around the end to save someone in time. Also it is very similar to 'maybe tomorrow'. The story itself was very good, but a bit of very long-winded. It took some time to Eliott finally met Ilena and when he tried to change the past, punched him fate still a catch. I found this to be a very good idea, but she was depressed implemented and drawn-fetched.
What fits but very well to each other is the cover to the story. The woman (Ilena?) Turning away from the landmarks of San Francisco and runs away, which could stand for Eliott. Where the Golden Gate Bridge becomes their undoing in the later part of the book.
