Sie lebt mit ihrem Großvater, ihren Eltern, ihrer kleineren Schwester und deren Sohn in einem kleinen Haus, in einem kleinen Dorf. Louisa ist seit 7 Jahren mit ihrem Freund Patrick zusammen, der jedoch eher auf Marathon als auf sie bedacht ist. Als Louisa ihren Job verliert und ihre jüngere Schwester verkündet noch mal auf die Uni zu gehen, sucht sie einen neune Job und landet aufgrund ihrer offenen Art prompt bei den Traynors, wo sie sich an Will zu Anfang die Zähne ausbeißt.
Will, war vor seinem Umfall ein reicher Geschäftsmann, der in London sein Leben in vollen Zügen lebte. Er liebte jeder Art von aktionreichen Sports. Nach seinem Umfall ist er an den Rollstuhl gebunden und vegetiert vor sich hin. Will empfindet sein neues Leben als unzureichend und wird deshalb verschlossen und bösartig. Er liebt klassische Musik und ausländische Filme. Seit seinem Umfall lebt er im rollstuhlgerechten Anbau im Haus seiner Eltern. Seine Schwester lebt in Australien aber seine Eltern kümmern sich mit hingabe um ihn. Eine weitere wichtige Bezugsperson ist sein Pfleger Nathan.
Weitere Charaktere sind die Familien von Will und Louisa. Sowie Nathan und Patrick,Sie spiegeln außerdem den Unterschied zwischen Arm und Reich. Louisas Familie versteht die Gepflogenheiten von den Traynors nicht. Und für Louisa ist das kalte und distanzierte Verhältnis in der Familie völlig unverständlich.

Die Geschichte findet hauptsächlich in einem kleinen Dorf statt. Das Dorf lebt hauptsächlich Tourismus um die Burgruine welche sich mitten im Dorf befindet. Die Dorfgemeinschaft befindet sich weit ab von jeder größeren Stadt. Auch Louisas Café schließt, da ein zweites auf dem Gelände der Ruine höhere Einnahmen fährt.
Das Buch spielt in einem zeitlichen Raum von 6 Monaten.
Schreibstil
Die Geschichte wird zu Beginn durchgängig aus der ersten Person erzählt und zwar von Louisa. Zum Ende hin mischt sich auch mal Wills Perspektive ein, so wie zum Beispiel am Strand von Mauritius.
Die Geschichte ist flüssig und einfach mit großem Schwerpunkt auf die Beziehung zwischen den Charakteren gelegt. Wobei sich aktive und passive Charakterisierung zu beiden Teilen in den Stil einbringen. Wie zum Beispiel Louisas individuellen Modestil oder Wills Vorliebe für klassische Musik und Theater, aber nicht für Kunst. Also er mag alles was sich verändert und nicht stagniert wie er selbst.

Fazit
Das Buch beweist eine schöne Story mit sehr viel Tiefgang. Louisa und Will verändern sich in ihrem Umgang miteinander und auch im generellen. Louisa die am Anfang noch als durchgehend positiv und oberflächlich gesehen wird, beginnt durch Will alles zu hinterfragen. Sie macht sich Gedanken über das Leben, nicht nur ihr eigenes sondern auch das der anderen. Sie denkt darüber nach endlich auch mal etwas für sich zu tun, und nicht immer nur für die anderen. Will merkt das sein Leben nicht nur trostlos ist, sondern das er eingeschränkt trotzdem Spaß und Freude haben kann.
Ich finde es sehr passend, das zu Beginn die Geschichte nur aus Louisas Sicht erzählt wird, so kann der Leser mitfühle und versetzt sich besser in ihre Lage. Jedoch wirken dadurch dann letztendlich auch Wills Teil der Geschichte dramatischer, da er nachdem nun eine große Entscheidung ansteht seinen inneren Zwiespalt zeigen kann. Es zeigt eine wunderschöne Liebesgeschichte, die eigentlich von Anfang an zum scheitern verurteilt ist.
Jojo Moyes braucht das sie nur einen Hauptspielplatz hat nicht so viel wert auf immer neue Beschreibungen des Handlungsschauplatzes, sondern kann sich voll und ganz Wert auf die Beschreibung ihre zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen legen.
Alles in allen ist es ein rundes und absolut wunderschönes Buch, also
