Charles Portis - True Grit
Ein weiteres meiner Mängelexemplare, die ich mir mal irgendwann Zusammenhangslos gekauft habe. Ich hatte nur von dem Film gehört der vor ein paar Jahren auf Grundlage dieses Buches gedreht wurde.

Charaktere:
Mattie Ross, die 14-jährige ist sehr erwachsen für ihr Alter. Sie ist eine starke Verhandlungspartnerin, die ganz genau weiß was sie will und wie sie es will. Mattie ist sehr selbstbewusst und weiß was sie wo bekommt.
Mattie Ross, seems very mature for a 14-year-old. She is a good negotiation party, who knows exactly what she wants and how she wants it. Mattie is very self-condindent and knows how to get what she wants.
Rooster Cogburn, ist ein alter US-Marshall. Er kann sich leider nicht mehr genau erinnern wo er im Krieg gedient hat aber er erzählt gerne mal von solchen Momenten. Rooster redet mit sich selbst und wirkt oft als ob er neben sich steht. Als Mattie ihn das erste mal trifft , hat er zum wiederholten mal jemanden niedergeschossen.
Rooster Cogburn is an old US-Marshall. He can't really tell where he was stationed at during the War, but he likes to tell stories from his war experience. Rooster often talks to himself and seems distant and out of reality. When Mattie first mets him he is standing trial because he once again shot somebody.
La Beouf, ist ein Texas Ranger, welcher auf Chaney angesetzt wurde. Er ist der Realist der Gruppe.
La Beouf is a Texas Ranger, who was set onto taking Chaney hostage. He is the realist in the group.
Alle drei wirken sie , als würden sie sich gegenseitig ausgleichen. In Wahrheit ist es aber eine hochexplosive Mischung. La Beouf nimmt Cogburn nicht für voll, da dieser wiederholt betrunken ist. Auch ist er gegen die Idee Mattie mit zu nehmen. Jene hat jedoch Cogburn bezahlt und will eigentlich La Beouf los werden, da sie ihn für überheblich hält und ihm nicht traut.
All three of them are seem to be a perfect Team. But in reality they are a dangerous mix. La Beouf doesn't think very highly of Cogburns alcohol consum. He is also against bringing Mattie. Mattie on the other hand paid Cogburn and tries to get rid of La Beouf , because she thinks he is arrogant and doesn't trust him.

Fazit:
Das Buch ist 'relativ ' kurz und hat daher nur eine kurze Handlungspanne. Wir erleben nur kurz Matties ankunft in Fort Smith, wie sie Rooster trifft, die kurze Reise und dann schon das finden der Gesuchten. Daher geht das Buch finde ich auch nicht wirklich in die Tiefe. Es ist eine nette, unterhaltsame kurze Geschichte aber es hält leider nicht mit anderen Büchern der selben Länge mit, zum Vergleich 'Der Hobbit' kommt zwar auf 300 Seiten, besitzt jedoch mehr tiefe und man hat das Gefühl die erzählte Geschichte ist detaillierter und dauert länger. Ich persönlich fand den Schreibstil jedoch sehr einfach und konnte daher gut und einfach der Geschichte folgen. Im Hobbit ist man auf S.218 bereits bei Smaug. Aufgrund der Länge und der sehr oberflächlichen Geschichte, kommt dieses Buch bei mir leider nur auf :

The book is relatively short and has a short story. We only see Matties arrival in Fort Smith, how she meets Rooster, the short journey out into the reservation and then the Finding. I also think that this book isn't really going below the surface. Its a nice , entertaining short story, but it doesn't keep up with other books of his lengh. As an example 'The Hobbit' has 300 pages , but goes more below the surface and you have the feeling the journey is longer and you get more details. I personally really liked the writing stil it was simple and easy to follow along. In 'the Hobbit' on page 218 you are already on Smaug. So based on the lengh and the simplicy of the story I can only give:
